Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga allies have called out Deputy President William Ruto ahead of 2022 polls.
Raila’s allies now say that DP Ruto is sensing defeat and is painting ODM boss as a ‘State Project’ so as to discredit him and his presidential bid.
The leaders were speaking in a night meeting with leaders drawn from Lower Estern counties of Machakos, Makueni, and kitui.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna hit out at DP and his allies for calling for the sacking of Cabinet secretaries for politicking.
This comes as IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati’s 2017 statement on CSs being involved in politics comes to haunt him. Chebukati in 2017 said that CSs are free to campaign but recently, he is of the opinion that they should not be involved in active campaigns.
“They have started complaining that CSs are supporting your presidential bid . These are the tactics of the opposition, they have already started rejecting the outcome,” Edwin Sifuna said.
ODM chairman John Mbadi said he is worried that DP Ruto will not accept results and wants him to assure Kenyans that he will concede.
“I am already worried and I want Ruto to assure the country that he will accept the 2022 results, people have seen all signs that Raial is the 5th president,” he said.
For Junet Mohammed who is a close confidant of Raila, he insists that ODM is a marathoner and his opponents are pacesetters.
“We told our opponents that election campaigns are not sprints, it is a marathon. Some of these people you see are pacesetters,” he said.
Raila is now enjoying popularity in the vast Mt Kenya region and this was witnessed in the Nyandarua rally last week.
