American streaming and production company, Netflix, has partnered with United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in a 8 million competition for creatives.
Netflix is urging talented creatives in Sub-Saharan Africa to compete by telling folktales in their own way.
Folktales were stories told to generations after generations by word of mouth and is among the things children took pleasure to participate in.
Netflix is making a reality out of the stories told in the competition targeting Kenya and its neighbors.
Six finalists will be rewarded hugely with a fat budget for the production of the film and will be featured on Netflix.
“In this groundbreaking contest, 6 finalists will get a production budget of $75,000 to make their short film, which will premiere on Netflix 2022,” Netflix tweeted.
